  • Bugfest Visit

    Mon 04 Dec 2023

We had an amazing morning with Nick from Bugfest. During our whole school session, we learned more about the amazing creatures that live in the world around us (some local; some not so much) and how they've changed over time. Some children also had a chance to hold some of the minibeasts, including some huge stick insects, cockroaches and millipedes.

Year 6 then had an additional session to develop their work in science this term around evolution, inheritance and adaptation. They thought specifically about why animals behave in particular ways, why we find them in specific environments and how they have changed over time. They also had a bit longer to handle some of the different minibeasts

  • DSAT 10th birthday celebrations

    Fri 01 Dec 2023

We enjoyed bring our bears to school and decorating cakes to celebrate DSAT's 10th birthday.  Thank you DSAT for our birthday badges too!

  • 5-aside champions!

    Wed 29 Nov 2023

Well done to our Year 5/6 football team who won the Sherborne Area 5-aside football tournament this evening. Playing against a very strong set of other teams, they very quickly learned the lessons from a loss in the first game to go on a winning streak where they didn't concede again. It was also great to see how adaptable our players were in a very busy set of games with everyone covering every inch of the hall!

  • Dodgeball Tournament

    Wed 15 Nov 2023

Well done to our amazing Yr 5/6 dodgeball team who had a great evening participating in the Sherborne Area cluster tournament. After totting up the scores this evening, we think we came joint second in what was a very close competition. It was fantastic to see how everyone played with smiles on their faces and played in a very sporting manner.

  • Cross Country

    Wed 01 Nov 2023

Well done to all of our cross country runners who took part in the Yeovil Area meet this afternoon at Yeovil Town FC. The children ran really well in difficult conditions and only a few children got stuck in the mud! We look forward to the children sharing their results during celebration assembly on Friday afternoon. Thank you to all of the parents for their support, to Emmie in Y6 taking all of our photos of the event and to Yeovil Town Road Running Club for organising the event.

  • #HelloYellow Mental Health Day

    Tue 10 Oct 2023

We've had a great World Mental Health Day in school as we all thought more about what we can do to support own mental health. Children thought about strategies to support their mental health and put this into practice through sports, mindfulness and other activities. Thank you everyone for your donations too - we will keep you updated on the final total.

  • Autumn Walk

    Fri 06 Oct 2023

We had a wonderful morning on our autumn walk as the whole school took to the paths and fields around Trent to learn more about the countryside around us. We saw how the weather has been affecting the growing seasons for farmers and heard about how they are harvesting different crops. Thank you to all of the adult helpers who made this possible and an even bigger thank you to Mr and Mrs Casely for leading the walk.

  • Science Lecture

    Fri 06 Oct 2023

Our Year 5/6 children were very excited to be able to visit Sherborne Girls on Tuesday afternoon to listen to the incredible Dr Mark Lewney speak. His lecture taught us all about the science of music and sound, but mostly through the medium of rock music!! The children were behaved impeccably throughout the visit and have been filled with questions since they came back to school!

Thank you so much to Sherborne Girls for inviting us to such an inspiring talk!

  • Ice Cream Van Visit

    Fri 15 Sep 2023

We've had a wonderful afternoon as all children and adults enjoyed an ice cream in the sunshine. We use the ice cream van to help us to remember our vision and how all of the parts of our school community combine to help us to let our lights shine.

  • Girls' Football Success

    Sat 20 May 2023

A huge well done to our Yr 5/6 girls' football team for winning the Sherborne area cluster tournament this afternoon. In very warm conditions, they played amazingly as a team - not losing a game and not even conceding a goal! Well done girls!!
