Year 3 Home Learning

week commencing 13.07.20

year3@trentyoungs.dsat.org.uk

This week is the last week of home learning that will be set this term as it is also the last week of the summer term. Tasks this week focus on consolidation of skills and

transition to the next year group, whilst also having some fun! We hope the children enjoy the tasks that we have set but as always, if you have any questions or queries related to the learning please do not hesitate to get in touch via the year group email address. Please also remember to pop us an email to share some examples of home learning or to tell us what you have been up to.

Finally, we would like to thank all of you for all your support and hard work with home learning over the last few months – we appreciate that this is not something that many of you ever expected to do but you have done a great job in taking on the role of teacher at home and allowing your child to gain a positive experience from this. Thank you!

Bonjour la classe!

For French we are going to find out about a very famous event that took place yesterday in France.  Le 14 juillet-Fête Nationale, July 14th – National Holiday in France is a bank holiday and normally a day of national celebration with parades, fly pasts, parties and lots of gatherings for special meals and fireworks.  This year it will be very different as the crowds are not allowed to gather and watch all the events.  But it will be broadcast on the television.  So there are 3 video clips, a powerpoint, a drawing activity to do and a quiz. The video clips are in the Video Centre on the school website. Go to FRENCH: le 14 juillet - la Fete Nationale en France: watch the 2020 Parade du 14 juillet, singing  La Marseillaise, the French national anthem; 2019 Fireworks, Eiffel Tower, Paris and why not try to Draw the Eiffel Tower, add a few fireworks.

Bon courage,

Miss Ferguson

*Go to HOME LEARNING, go right down to the bottom and select Video Centre and find the FRENCH: le 14 juillet - Bastille Day.

Bonjour la classe,

Ça va? How are you?

I hope you are keeping your French up.  Last time, I hope you had a chance to find out about Le Tour de France by looking at a powerpoint, watching the clip (GUIDE:Le Tour de France) in the *VIDEO CENTRE on the school website and designing a “maillot”, a cycle shirt.  This time there is a powerpoint which has lots of pictures and facts about this famous bike race.  Your activity is to use your cognate (word spelt the same and same meaning as the English) and near cognate (word shows similarities to words with similar or same meaning as the English) to do a wordsearch.  There is also a clip of the Highlights from stage 19 of the 2019 Tour de France.  So much can happen in a bike race.

Remember, for space learning I have uploaded some French space clips to the *VIDEO CENTRE: SamSam le superhero de l’Espace/ Le système solaire présenté par les CE2 - CM1(Y4 & Y5 children)/ Paxi – Le système solaire/ Visitez la Station spatiale internationale en deux minutes

*Go to HOME LEARNING, go right down to the bottom and select Video Centre and find the Year 3 & Year 4 video clips.

Enjoy this learning.

Bon courage,                  Madame Ferguson

Bonjour la classe,

Ça va? How are you?

I hope you are keeping your French up.  You have had a lot of intense French sounds learning.  You are already confident with this French phonics learning. Last time, you had a new sound “eu”.  You may still be learning about this sound.  The powerpoint has lots of pictures and sounds to help you learn the sound you need and explore lots of new words that have this sound.  Remember to keep practising the sounding.

This time, I would like you to watch a film (Le Tour de France for newbies) all about Le Tour de France, the very famous cycle race, that was due to start on Saturday.  It is in the VIDEO CENTRE.  We will use this learning next time.

Remember, for space learning I have uploaded some French space clips to the *VIDEO CENTRE: SamSam le superhero de l’Espace/ Le système solaire présenté par les CE2 - CM1(Y4 & Y5 children)/ Paxi – Le système solaire/ Visitez la Station spatiale internationale en deux minutes

Bonjour la classe,

Ça va? How are you?

I hope you are keeping your French up.  We are continuing to focus on French sounds.  You are already confident with this French phonics learning. This week you have a new sound “eu”.  This is easier than the tricky “r” sound and you will know many of the key words that help you memorise this sound. The powerpoint has lots of pictures and sounds to help you learn the sound you need and explore lots of new words that have this sound.  Remember to keep practising the sounding.

To support Y3 Space learning I have uploaded some French space clips to the *VIDEO CENTRE: SamSam le superhero de l’Espace/ Le système solaire présenté par les CE2 - CM1(Y4 & Y5 children)/ Paxi – Le système solaire/ Visitez la Station spatiale internationale en deux minutes

Bonjour la classe,

Ça va? How are you?

I hope you are keeping your French up.  We are continuing to focus on French sounds.  You are already confident with this French phonics learning. This week you will continue with the sound “r”.  This is one of the trickiest sounds for us to say correctly. The powerpoint has lots of pictures and sounds to help you learn the sound you need and explore lots of new words that have this sound.  Remember to keep practising the sounding.

To support this learning I have uploaded some French stories to the *VIDEO CENTRE: Hungry Caterpillar/SamSam le superhero/ le Navet Enorme. Every time you hear an "r" sound, wave.

*Go to HOME LEARNING, go right down to the bottom and select Video Centre and find the Year 3 & Year 4 video clips.

Enjoy this learning.

Bon courage,                  Madame Ferguson

    • ANIMALS:  Do you like? What is it? verbs singular/plural masculine/feminine negatives prunounciation
    • VERB: Avoir-to have- How to conjugate (say the different parts of the verb) avoir.  This is an irregular verb, it does not follow a pattern.
    • VERB: Aimer-to like- How to conjugate (say the different parts of the verb) aimer.  This is a regular verb, it does follow a pattern.
