School Vision
Let your light shine
A very warm welcome to
Thank you for your interest in our school. We hope that you will find our website both interesting and informative, as well as giving a taste for what is important to us at our school.
Here at Trent, our vision, 'to let your light shine' means that our priority is for each child to flourish: to believe in themselves, to understand the impact that they can have on each other, and to be happy and healthy. We believe that is it vital that each child understands how special, unique, and valued they are and is able to make a positive contribution to our school and the wider community. Our curriculum is designed to provide all children with the best possible opportunities to experience success, and to become curious individuals who care for each other and our world.

Year 4 had a wonderful time at Salisbury Cathedral with hundreds of children from other Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust schools. They thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing and then performing songs and dances with the ISingPOP team in front of a large audience! The children represented our school beautifully – we are all extremely proud of them and the effort they put into the show. Well done Year 4! #LetYourLightShine
We had a wonderful Autumn Walk last week as we enjoyed taking in the sights, sounds and smells of our local area. The whole school were able to spot the signs of autumn around us and enjoyed learning more about the impact of the summer's dry weather on our local farming community. Thank you, as ever, to Mr and Mrs Casely for leading our walks, and to all of our adult volunteers for walking with us. #LetYourLightShine The Ernest Cook Trust
Due to popular demand, we have organised another open day for later this term. Please contact the school office to book your tour for either in-year or Reception 2026 applications. #LetYourLightShine
Well done to our Year 5/6 football team for winning their first game of the season last night. Playing against tough opposition, they clawed themselves back from a losing position to book their spot in the next round of the North Dorset Davison Cup. Thanks, as always, to Sherborne Turf for keeping us kitted out and looking smart! #LetYourLightShine
Don't forget it's bingo time on Friday evening - Mr Squibb has been warming up his bingo calls already and we're looking forward to seeing everyone there! #LetYourLightShine
Earlier this week, Badger and Fox Class were lucky enough to have an amazing day filled with a variety of workshops linked to the Stone Age. The children were first introduced to the three ages: Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic. They explored how life changed for humans within each of the three ages, starting with being hunter-gatherers, moving on through to farming and finally focusing on the discovery of metals, including how this changed communities and trade. The children then gathered in the hall for a big finale: learning about the remarkable Stonehenge, how historians believe it was built and why. #LetYourLightShine
A hugely inspirational group who I know the children have spoken about a lot in school!! We can't wait for our cluster rugby tournament to take place later this term!! #LetYourLightShine #RedRoses
It's not long until our open days where you can see our village school in action! We would love to meet you and your family - please contact the school office to book a tour. #LetYourLightShine
Yesterday afternoon, all children and staff were treated to an ice cream. Not only was this a lovely treat, but we also use the visit of the ice cream van as an opportunity to help the children understand our vision, 'let your light shine'. Our 'vision van' reminds us that so many different elements come together to allow all of our lights to shine, and that a simple act of giving can create such joy and happiness in others. #LetYourLightShine
It was wonderful to see so many of you at this morning's harvest festival. We enjoyed learning more about what harvest is and what it looks like in our local community before thinking more about why we need food banks. We were also treated to two wonderful songs from Hedgehog and Otter Classes. We were also lucky to be joined by Mat Callaghan from Lord's Larder Yeovil who told us more about how your wonderful donations will be used in our community. Thank you so much for your support! #LetYourLightShine
We are now taking bookings for our open days where you can see our school in action. Please contact the school office to book your tour. #LetYourLightShine
We hope you've all had a great summer and we're looking forward to seeing everyone back at school tomorrow for the autumn term! #LetYourLightShine
What an inspirational group the Lionesses are - I know we've got so many footballers at school that this will mean so much to (and will definitely inspire so many more to play too!!). #LetYourLightShine #ItsHomeAgain #Lionesses
