School Vision
Let your light shine
A very warm welcome to
Thank you for your interest in our school. We hope that you will find our website both interesting and informative, as well as giving a taste for what is important to us at our school.
Here at Trent, our vision, 'to let your light shine' means that our priority is for each child to flourish: to believe in themselves, to understand the impact that they can have on each other, and to be happy and healthy. We believe that is it vital that each child understands how special, unique, and valued they are and is able to make a positive contribution to our school and the wider community. Our curriculum is designed to provide all children with the best possible opportunities to experience success, and to become curious individuals who care for each other and our world.

We're really proud of our Y6 dodgeball team who competed in the cluster tournament this evening. Playing against all of the other local schools, they came a respectable fourth and grew in confidence greatly across the event. It was also very positive to see how they picked themselves up after a tricky patch mid-way through the event to end on a high! #LetYourLightShine

From all of us at Trent Young's, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!! It was wonderful to see so many of you at this afternoon's Christingle and Carols service - it was a very special way to finish a busy term. Thank you so much for your support throughout this year and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 6th January. #LetYourLightShine
Wow, what fantastic performances!! We loved watching our two Christmas performances earlier this week and were amazed at the hard work that every single child put in to learn their lines and songs, and deliver such amazing performances. Hedgehog and Otter Classes performed 'Bethlehem Bake Off' in a slight spin-off on the nativity story, with lots of cake and judges present, alongside your normal Christmas story characters. KS2 put on their Christmas showcase with a collection of letters and songs which took us from the stable in Bethlehem right through to some rather frustrated reindeer!! Thank you to everyone who came to watch and donated so generously, and to Sherborne Girls for hosting us in the wonderful Gransden Hall. #LetYourLightShine
Thank you to everyone who came along to our Christmas Fair after school today. We love seeing the whole school community coming together to enjoy the stalls, games and food, and also enjoyed a very special visitor who spent all evening travelling around the village in the back of the tractor and trailer. Thank you to the wonderful parent helpers and Friends of Trent School who made the event so successful! #LetYourLightShine
Don't forget that it's our Christmas Fair straight after school tomorrow in Trent Village Hall! See you all there!! #LetYourLightShine
Well done to our amazing Year 5/6 football team who won the Sherborne Area 5-aside football tournament last night. After a slow start and a loss in our first game, we won the rest of our group stage games which saw us progress to the semi finals. In a tense game, we grabbed a late goal to see us through to the cup final. After the final whistle in the final, both teams were still locked at 0-0 so we headed to penalties, where we won 3-2 in an incredibly dramatic finale! What a way to finish the term! #LetYourLightShine
Cheap Street Christmas Tree Festival – Come and See Our Sparkle! Pop along to the Cheap Street Christmas Tree Festival and enjoy the magic for yourself! #LetYourLightShine
Exploring Autumn at Hummer Forest! Yesterday, Hedgehog Class had an amazing visit to Hummer Forest to discover the beauty of autumn. The children were fantastic explorersidentifying evergreen and deciduous trees. We examined the colourful leaves scattered across the forest floor and made fabulous autumn crowns. Wrapped up warm, we enjoyed a cold, sunny day that was perfect for outdoor learning. A huge thank you to Angela from the The Ernest Cook Trust for leading such an engaging and educational session! What a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn about the changing seasons! #LetYourLightShine
Well done to our amazing Yr 5/6 girls' football team who won the Sherborne Area girls' football tournament yesterday. Playing in freezing conditions, the girls won every game and didn't concede a single goal!! #LetYourLightShine
Yesterday morning, Owl Class led a very reflective Armistice Day service at St Andrew's Church. They told us more about the history of the poppy, the impact of war and how we can strive for peace around the world. All children observed the silence perfectly and we also enjoyed meeting members of our local community who attended the service too. #LetYourLightShine #LestWeForget
A huge well done to our Year 1/2 football players for taking part in a brilliantly organised football festival at Sherborne Prep School yesterday afternoon! The children were treated to a warm-up led by the Prep Sports Ambassadors before taking part in a round robin style tournament. Both teams played extremely well and there was some fantastic play from every single player and some incredible goals scored too! Trent A team played amazingly well with two wins and two losses meaning they finished 3rd in their tournament! Trent B team stole the show with 4 wins from 4 and won their tournament - a huge well done to the team! Mr Squibb and Miss Partridge were so proud of all the children today, especially the children who took part in their first ever football event! The children represented the school wonderfully and worked together as a team so well, supporting each other and congratulating other players and teams after every game! #LetYourLightShine
