School Vision
Let your light shine
A very warm welcome to
Thank you for your interest in our school. We hope that you will find our website both interesting and informative, as well as giving a taste for what is important to us at our school.
Here at Trent, our vision, 'to let your light shine' means that our priority is for each child to flourish: to believe in themselves, to understand the impact that they can have on each other, and to be happy and healthy. We believe that is it vital that each child understands how special, unique, and valued they are and is able to make a positive contribution to our school and the wider community. Our curriculum is designed to provide all children with the best possible opportunities to experience success, and to become curious individuals who care for each other and our world.

Exploring Autumn at Hummer Forest! Yesterday, Hedgehog Class had an amazing visit to Hummer Forest to discover the beauty of autumn. The children were fantastic explorersidentifying evergreen and deciduous trees. We examined the colourful leaves scattered across the forest floor and made fabulous autumn crowns. Wrapped up warm, we enjoyed a cold, sunny day that was perfect for outdoor learning. A huge thank you to Angela from the The Ernest Cook Trust for leading such an engaging and educational session! What a wonderful way to connect with nature and learn about the changing seasons! #LetYourLightShine
Well done to our amazing Yr 5/6 girls' football team who won the Sherborne Area girls' football tournament yesterday. Playing in freezing conditions, the girls won every game and didn't concede a single goal!! #LetYourLightShine
Yesterday morning, Owl Class led a very reflective Armistice Day service at St Andrew's Church. They told us more about the history of the poppy, the impact of war and how we can strive for peace around the world. All children observed the silence perfectly and we also enjoyed meeting members of our local community who attended the service too. #LetYourLightShine #LestWeForget
A huge well done to our Year 1/2 football players for taking part in a brilliantly organised football festival at Sherborne Prep School yesterday afternoon! The children were treated to a warm-up led by the Prep Sports Ambassadors before taking part in a round robin style tournament. Both teams played extremely well and there was some fantastic play from every single player and some incredible goals scored too! Trent A team played amazingly well with two wins and two losses meaning they finished 3rd in their tournament! Trent B team stole the show with 4 wins from 4 and won their tournament - a huge well done to the team! Mr Squibb and Miss Partridge were so proud of all the children today, especially the children who took part in their first ever football event! The children represented the school wonderfully and worked together as a team so well, supporting each other and congratulating other players and teams after every game! #LetYourLightShine
A huge well done to our Year 5/6 tag rugby team for winning the Sherborne area tournament for the second year running! In poor weather conditions that led to slippery conditions underfoot, the team won twice in the group stage to progress to the semi finals. In a close knockout game, we triumphed 5-3 before facing a repeat of last year's final against Thornford. As the minutes ticked down, the teams were locked at 2-2 but, as we headed into overtime, we managed to get the ball down for a final try to win 3-2. We were also delighted to be recognised for our sportsmanship as we won a trophy for this too! The children represented the school wonderfully and worked together as a team so well, supporting each other even during the tricky moments during games. #LetYourLightShine Arnold Clark
Well done to our Year 5/6 girls' football team who won their first game of the season 3-1 last night. This was in the league phase of the Girls' Davison Cup so we've got three points already, with 3 games still to come! #LetYourLightShine Premier League
Year 4 had a wonderful time at Salisbury Cathedral with hundreds of children from other Diocese of Salisbury Academy Trust schools. They thoroughly enjoyed rehearsing and then performing songs and dances with the ISingPOP team in front of a large audience! The children represented our school beautifully – we are all extremely proud of them and the effort they put into the show. Well done Year 4! #LetYourLightShine
We had a wonderful Autumn Walk last week as we enjoyed taking in the sights, sounds and smells of our local area. The whole school were able to spot the signs of autumn around us and enjoyed learning more about the impact of the summer's dry weather on our local farming community. Thank you, as ever, to Mr and Mrs Casely for leading our walks, and to all of our adult volunteers for walking with us. #LetYourLightShine The Ernest Cook Trust
Due to popular demand, we have organised another open day for later this term. Please contact the school office to book your tour for either in-year or Reception 2026 applications. #LetYourLightShine
Well done to our Year 5/6 football team for winning their first game of the season last night. Playing against tough opposition, they clawed themselves back from a losing position to book their spot in the next round of the North Dorset Davison Cup. Thanks, as always, to Sherborne Turf for keeping us kitted out and looking smart! #LetYourLightShine
Don't forget it's bingo time on Friday evening - Mr Squibb has been warming up his bingo calls already and we're looking forward to seeing everyone there! #LetYourLightShine
